Seven Quick Takes: WordPress, Summer Camp and Hulk Cake

Seven Quick Takes

{1}

Well, I took the plunge and moved to WordPress, changing my blog name in the process. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for awhile, and this week just seemed like the right time, with the older kids at camp and all. You can read the lines that inspired the new name on my “About” page, and hopefully I will write more about it soon.

I’m still feeling my way around here, and figuring things out, so please pardon the dust. πŸ™‚ And if anyone knows why the images on my homepage are distorted, but fine when you click through to the post, please led me know!

Miss A and Mr. D had a fun and busy week at church camp. It’s kind of weird not hearing from them for almost six days, since no electronics are allowed there, and they only contact parents in case of an emergency. But I think it’s good for them and us – kind of training in letting go.

Mr. D’s favorite part of camp was swimming in the pool after dark (they had lights), which means he was up quite late! Miss A especially enjoyed Pastor Trueman’s lectures on the book of Judges. πŸ™‚

Mr. E isn’t old enough for church camp yet, but he spent the mornings this week at an adventure camp at the gym where the kids take parkour lessons. His adventures included kayaking (well, mostly riding in the kayak while someone else paddled πŸ˜› ), rappelling at the gym or (on Thursday) down a 50 ft. cliff, and making and throwing boomerangs.

I rediscovered badminton during our recent visit to Canada, and we bought a set to put up in our backyard. It’s great fun (and exercise) playing with the older kids or my hubby.

Mr. L turned four today! I made him a Hulk cake, with help from Mr. D. I was inspired by this post I found on Pinterest (my go-to place for cake ideas). It was simple, quick and he just loved it!

  1. Adorable cake.

    It wasn’t always quieter here with R at home, but she loved art camp. I think it’s funny that we signed the same aged kids up in the same town at different camps while the oldest were away.

    Did you know the Lius love badmitton? They play at OSU on Friday nights.
