For Today
Looking out my window…cloudy but fairly warm
I am thinking…about writing again, and whether I am doing what is best for me and my kids…maybe I’ll share more sometime…
I am thankful…to be feeling better – I’ve been sick for so long!
One of my favorite things…spring – happy sigh. 🙂
I am creating…an updated planner – finished entering all the soccer practices and games this morning – April and May will be busy…
I am wearing…purple tee and jeans.
I am watching…The Great British Baking Show on Netflix.
I am hoping…for some sun soon.
I am learning…about parents and children.
In my kitchen…taco potatoes – yummy and filling!
In the school room…Mr. D started a new Writing & Rhetoric book today: Chreia & Proverb. Looks interesting and challenging!
In my garden…tulips are sprouting, but some got trampled. 🙁
Post Script
Karen Glass had an excellent blog series last week: Some Practices are Principles – Part 2 was my favorite. 🙂
Shared Quote
[Parental authority] is a provisional function, and is only successful as it encourages the autonomy, if we may call it so, of the child. A single decision made by the parents which the child is, or should be, capable of making for itself, is an encroachment on the rights of the child, and a transgression on the part of the parents. Charlotte Mason, Parents and Children (I plan to post more quotes here as I work my way through it.)
A moment from my day…this sand table has been a great investment (we got it when Mr. D was a toddler!), although I may sometimes question that when the kids come in plastered. 😉
Closing Notes
Inspired again by Mystie, I’ve been using Trello for checklists for Miss A and Mr. D for several weeks now – it works especially well with Miss A. I don’t have to write out checklists each night for them, but it’s still flexible (things can be added or deleted). And they can leave me notes or written narrations!

I like the quote you shared from Charlotte Mason. There is so much wisdom in her writing.
I like Charlotte Mason, too. Kids look like they are having fun with the sand table!
