The Simple Woman’s Daybook for August 6, 2018

For Today

Looking out my window…getting dark – it was a pretty hot and humid day.
I am thinking…about the ways we currently encounter (don’t know if that’s the word I want) poetic knowledge in our homeschool, and ways we can improve (without trying to do all the things!).
I am thankful…for new bookshelves for the living room and a shoe shelf/bench that fits our small entryway! Hubby and and I switched out our usual dinner-and-bookstore date for a trip to IKEA on Friday. It was a bit overwhelming, but it helped to look through the catalog first and have a good idea what we were looking for.

One of my favorite things…evening walks.

I am creating…a more organized closet – slowly.
I am wearing…jammies
I am reading…quite a stack, as usual. A chapter a day or a week, perhaps, depending on the book. Hoping to finish Poetic Knowledge this week, ahead of (my self-imposed) schedule. Looking forward to a couple more arriving soon! And I just pre-ordered 3 of these 4 books today, so I’ll have to try to finish a few before September 4th. 😉
I am hoping…to get school plans finalized soon as well.
I am learning…about the importance of doing and experiencing, not just reading. Doesn’t always come so easily to me. 😉
In my kitchen…something quick and easy tonight. Miss A is making us a fancier supper tomorrow.
In the school room…We’re on summer break, although Miss A is wrapping up some loose ends this week (she hasn’t been well the past few weeks, and is now on antibiotics for a sinus infection). Piano and reading continue, though – really the learning never stops!
In my garden…we may get some tomatoes and peppers if I water them enough. 😛
Post Script
I may be changing things up a bit with our memory work after listening to the Mason Jar podcast on Recitation – interesting!

  1. Beautiful, Anna! I do so always enjoy your daybook entries. Your commonplace entry from S&H Since the MA is quite thought provoking; I know I am not and will never be “bold,” but with the Lord’s help, I try to be “brave.” I fear I often fail. That description is quite suitable to my personality, which tends to be fearful or perhaps timid. Thank you for linking to the “Recitation” podcast. I have been remiss all summer to keep up with those. Blessings to you and yours.
