The Simple Woman’s Daybook for June 20, 2016

For Today

Looking out my window…partly cloudy and hot.
I am thinking…I should be reading… 😉
I am thankful…most of the butterflies survived my neglect – they started hatching from their chrysalides before we had moved them into the Butterfly Garden. :/ One of them looks like he might not make it…
One of my favorite things…Pickled Beets from Trader Joe’s 🙂
I am wearing…purple tee and skirt
I am creating…a homeschool audit (need to get back to it).
I listened to…The Scarlet Pimpernel in two days, thanks in large part to my hubby taking the kids to a movie, the Jungle Gym and the pool! It was very enjoyable – Georgette Heyer meets John Buchan – and the narrator was fantastic. 🙂
I am hoping…to watch the movie version again soon (I did watch it years ago).
I am learning…about the power of narration with my Start Here study group tonight.
In my kitchen…homemade strawberry yogurt popsicles for a treat after lunch.
In the school room…we read about J. Gresham Machen in Trial and Triumph, and learned a little of the history of our denomination (OPC) during Morning Time today. 🙂
In my garden…the lettuce is wilting. 🙁
Post Script
Mystie’s follow-up to her Homeschool Audit with the results of her own audit was also helpful.
Shared Quote
“Christianity depends not upon a set of ideas, but upon an event – the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.” J. Gresham Machen
A moment from my day

Closing Notes: I’ve read parts of four of Charlotte Mason’s Home Education series, and I’m getting a bit antsy to actually finish one! So I’m giving myself the challenge to read 4-5 chapters a week from School Education (starting this week) and post a quote or two from each chapter here on the blog. Hopefully I won’t annoy you all too much, but it will be good accountability. 😉
