The Simple Woman’s Daybook for September 11, 2017

For Today

Looking out my window…dark, cloudy, chirping crickets.
I am thinking…about our recent road trip – perhaps I should write a post?
I am thankful…for good news from the Floridians I know personally or via social media. Praying for those countries and states affected.
One of my favorite things…Mr. L’s enthusiasm for learning. He did pretty well with his first official narrations today. 🙂
I am creating…got to figure out this Paper Sloyd thing ’cause I’m supposed to be teaching it… :/
I am wearing…purple tee, sweater, skirt
I am reading…this stack and more besides…

I am hoping…to keep up with all that pre-reading. 😛
I am learning…about the 1800s with Miss A and Mr. E this year.
In my kitchen…pork chops, gnocchi, and lettuce from Trader Joe’s, thanks to hubby. And Tim Horton’s for breakfast, also thanks to my early-rising hubby. 🙂
In the school room…our first day of the 2017-2018 school year. It wasn’t too bad, although there were lots of math struggles – common after a long break, I’ve heard. 😉 It was good to get back to our school routine, although we are making adjustments to fit in a new student this year.
In my garden…probably need to harvest the potatoes soon. It looks like the three remaining pepper plants may be reviving – at least there’s some flowers and they looked healthier. Thanks to my friend for watering while we were gone!

Speaking of pre-reading, this was a good conversation: To Pre-read or Not to Pre-read

A moment from my day…

  1. I enjoyed Watership Down, kids not so much, but I did. We did a few math drills during the summer 1-2 a week, and had a summer reading book or two, a chapter a week, to keep the kids fresh. They are grown and gone now, and I’m enjoying my new life, but sometimes miss the books!
