The kids and I have traveled around the world this past year, without leaving the continent! Mr. D and I finished reading the wonderful Complete Book of Marvels today, sitting atop Mt. Fuji watching the sunrise with Mr. Halliburton. And this summer we have all enjoyed the Read the World Summer Book Club. I am almost done Jamie Martin’s Give Your Child the World – I just need to read the Latin America and Australia/Oceania/Polar Regions chapters and reserve some books at the library. I enjoyed Jamie’s story, and her tips for introducing the world to our children. I was pleased that her suggestions were simple and mostly inexpensive, and that we were already doing some of them! I loved this quote from Jamie:
Inspiration leads to action, to curiosity, to learning. Don’t overcomplicate the process; just let your own passion shine through your everyday life – let it naturally influence your home.
And later she included a wonderful quote from Charlotte Mason’s Home Education which I wanted to share (the books in the photo are some that have been enjoyed this week as we read through Asia).
And of course the book lists in Give Your Child the World are wonderful – many are available at our library that I would otherwise have overlooked! It’s a great resource!
