31 Days of Great Reads – The Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt by Elizabeth Payne

During the month of October, I’m posting brief reviews of some of my favorite books from the past couple of years: those that really touched my heart, gave me a new perspective, taught me something, or were just plain fun. Hopefully you will be inspired to add something to your to-read list. 🙂

As a girl, I loved reading about archaeology, and dreamt of being an archaeologist. The discovery of King Tut’s tomb especially intrigued me. Now as a homeschool mom, I am on the lookout for books that make history and the study of it come alive. The Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt does both. The stories of the Pharaohs were fascinating, but what I really enjoyed were the sometimes incredible accounts of the discoveries that have given us clues to those stories. Highly recommended for all the other wannabe archeologists out there. :)
