The Simple Woman’s Daybook for September 5, 2023

For Today
Looking out my window…I’m out on the patio!
I am thinking…our new homeschool routine is going fairly well, hopefully that will continue.
I am thankful…these two made it to the one-year mark with their bookstore!

One of my favorite things…Griffeys’ Book Emporium
I am creating…a longer to-read list 😉
I am wearing…Scholé Sisters t-shirt and new favorite jeans
I am watching…Bleak House again, this time with my daughter and her husband when they are able. So good.
I am hoping…to finish listening to The Medieval Mind of C. S. Lewis and maybe The Truth this week.
I am learning…about the Anglo-Saxon world: I finished Winters in the World recently and listened to Professor Drout’s lectures. Now I’m listening to Bede’s The Ecclesiastical History of the English People and reading Beowulf with Mr. L and Mr. R in Morning Time – Michael Morpurgo’s retelling first, then the Burton Raffel translation (I read Seamus Heaney’s several years ago). I also have a collection of Anglo-Saxon poetry waiting. 🙂
In my kitchen…cinnamon apple bread which no one else seems to like – oh well 😉
In the school room…we’re back at it!
In my garden…well, on the patio ♥

Postscript…many thanks to Common Place Quarterly magazine for publishing an article I wrote in their latest issue, Grand Conversations. Back issues should be available soon.
Shared Quote…I was given a quote from my article to share, so I’ll put it here…
A moment from my day…I didn’t take any photos today!
Closing Notes
Happy September!
