I was originally was going to spray paint our dining chairs in various shades of green, and I actually started to do that. But the smell and the discomfort of having to wear a mask quickly discouraged me, as well as the fact that neither shade of green I tried was quite what I wanted. So I went searching for a healthier alternative and found Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. It seems quite pricey for a little can, but I was able to paint all seven chairs with at least two coats and still have some left! And I didn’t need to sand or use a primer! I agonized over which color to choose but finally settled on Cream which I thought would be a good contrast to all the dark wood furniture in the room.
Like the blue side table, there were some spots that the paint didn’t want to stick to. I did what I could, but I finally had to just call it good (which is hard for the perfectionist in me).
A few days later, I applied the Annie Sloan Clear Wax, which is supposed to sit a month before the piece has heavy use. It’s good to finally be able to put them around the table!
We found the table at World Market. We have bought several pieces of furniture from them (including the two large bookshelves in the above photo) and have been generally pleased with their quality and prices. It seats eight comfortably and several more can be squeezed in when necessary. 🙂
These look Wonderful! Great Job, Anna!
The room looks amazing, Anna!
I really miss World Market! (Ours closed a few years ago.) We’ve been looking for dining tables that would suit our family size and yours looks like a great option.
