The Simple Woman’s Daybook for August 1, 2016

For Today

Looking out my window…it’s sunny and hot.
I am thinking…about book choices for the new school year – my brain is in planning mode! šŸ™‚
I am thankful…for the planning AmblesideOnline has already done for me, and the freedom to change things up as I see fit.
One of my favorite things…planning for a new school year!
I am wearing…floral print tee and capri pants
I am creating…see above šŸ˜‰ – hopefully I’ll share more soon.
I am hoping…to finish it and a few other books this week.
I am learning…about homeschooling highschool and record keeping.
In my kitchen…the dishwasher is running – we’ll probably pick up something for supper…
In the school room…Mr. E and I read about the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, and how General Wolfe bravely fought and died. We looked at this painting by Benjamin West and found Quebec on the map.
In my gardennot much to report, unfortuately. šŸ˜›
Post Script
I’ve recently discovered the blog Annie & Everything, and it’s a treasure trove of encouragement and information for anyone planning to homeschool through highschool.

Do friction and tension flare up in my environment? Could they result from my own righteous indignation against wrong within my family or colleagues or church? Could my anger be causing more harm than the wrong I am angry about?
A moment from my day…I love that he’s learning the same Country Dance I learned from the same book I used, with Mrs. Mark’s fingering notes still there…Ā countrydance

Just one more week of school here before we take a four-week summer break – yay! Hope you have a blessed week!

  1. Love your Daybook entry! It’s hot here too. So very hot! I think the Charlotte Mason method is wonderful. I found out about it far too late in my children’s homeschooling. I hope you have a blessed week!

  2. That book looks interesting and the quote is very intriguing! I think I’m going to have to put it on my list of “want to reads.”

I enjoyed the peek into your day!

    • It is a convicting and thought-provoking book – but sometimes a bit hard to read for squeamish me because of the medical descriptions. Thanks for commenting! šŸ™‚
