The Simple Woman’s Daybook for June 12, 2017

For Today

Looking out my window…it was hot, humid, and sunny today – must be just about summer!
I am thinking…about all the things I need/want to plan and do this summer. I started a summer brain dump in my new journal!
I am thankful…our credit union caught the attempted fraud on my credit card. Getting a new one is a bit of a hassle, though. 🙁
One of my favorite things…cousins playing together – we enjoyed some time with family in Canada a couple of weeks ago. 🙂
I am creating…a daily index card

I am wearing…green tee and khaki capri pants

I read…more Pieper last week!

I am hoping…Little R continues to make progress with potty training. We were able to make a good start last week, thanks to my friend Dawn, who took my older four to VBS so I could focus on him.
I am learning…that writing down all that stuff in my head actually motivates me to do something!
In my kitchen…a cleaner and neater pantry – this photo was taken before hubby brought home more groceries, though. 😛

In the school room…we watched the first half of the old Laurence Olivier version of The Merchant of Venice this morning. I must say the Shakespearean language paired with the Victorian outfits and setting is rather incongruous. 😛 But I like Olivier’s interpretation of Shylock.
In my garden…beans are starting to climb the poles, and a potato tower has been “built” – we’ll see if anything actually sprouts…
Post Script
I love this metaphor for parenting teens – so true, but not so easy to do!
Shared Quote
“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs 15:1 ESV (I need to be reminded of this multiple time a day!)
A moment from my day…baseball – sort of 😉

Closing Notes
Charlotte Mason’s volumes are being reprinted! Here’s Volume I: Home Education – I’m ordering a copy to peruse and eventually read when I’ve finished Parents and Children. Make sure you get the Living Book Press editions from Amazon, as some of the other reprints are not legitimate!
