The Simple Woman’s Daybook for December 13, 2021

For Today
Looking out my window…lots of lovely Christmas lights around the neighborhood. 🙂
I am thinking…about all the things that need to be done before Christmas!
I am thankful…it’s the last week of Term 1 – Christmas break starts next week!
One of my favorite things…Wildlights at the zoo.
I am creating…well, I made candles with Miss A, her boyfriend, and his mom a few weeks ago – that was fun. 🙂 Time to try burning one, I think!
I am wearing…plaid shirt and jeans.
I am listening to…Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens – almost through the first section.
I am hoping…to discuss it with friends tomorrow night.
I am learning…about festivity from Josef Pieper – maybe I’ll post some quotes soon.
In my kitchen…planning to make cranberry shortbread stars tomorrow and plum pudding on Wednesday (following the tutorial from Like Mother, Like Daughter).
In the school room…I am enjoying our simple Advent Morning Times: singing a couple of carols, listening to a bit of Handel’s Messiah, and reading a Christmas story (we’ve enjoyed some picture books so far, this week we’re reading Madeline L’Engle’s The Twenty-four Days Before Christmas).
Post Script
Looking for a reading challenge for next year? The Literary Life Podcast discussed theirs last week.
Shared Quote
“My sins were horrible, but endless grace has arms of generous goodness thrown so wide they take in all who turn to them.” Manfred in Dante’s Purgatory
A moment from my day…Oh Christmas Tree!
Closing Notes: Merry Christmas!
