This recent post at Living Unabridged reminded me that I haven’t done one of these for a few years. So here’s a little bit about each of my students. 🙂
Mr. D
Favorite home subject: Literature (mostly taken from AmblesideOnline Year 11)
Favorite outside subject: Jr. ROTC (Air Force) early on most weekday mornings at our local high school.
Most challenging/difficult subject: Physics (we’re using Exploring Creation with Physics)
Favorite activity/hobby: 3-D modeling
Favorite books: can’t get him to name one 😛
Mr. E
Favorite home subject: math (Teaching Textbooks Algebra I)
Favorite outside “subject”: cross country running
Most difficult/challenging subject: German – he enjoys learning the language, but finds the homework takes a lot of time (he’s doing German I from True North Homeschool Academy)
Favorite activity/hobby: cross country, again 🙂
Favorite books: The Brendan Voyage, the Iliad, Complete Book of Marvels, Watership Down
Mr. L
Favorite home subject: history (thanks, AmblesideOnline!)
Favorite outside subject: Plutarch at co-op (thanks, Dawn!)
Most challenging subject/difficult subject: Latin (he’s doing Getting Started with Latin) – but I’m going to encourage him to stick with it into high school like Miss A did.
Favorite activity/hobby: hiking (he impressed a Boy Scout leader on a recent camping trip with church friends!)
Favorite books: George Washington’s World, The Lord of the Rings, The Essential Avengers series
Mr. R
Favorite home subject: Mom (or someone) reading to him
Favorite outside subject: Shakespeare at co-op
Most difficult/challenging subject: Reading practice (but he’s doing well!)
Favorite activity/hobby: playing (Legos, etc.)
Favorite books: At the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Calvin and Hobbes
As for Miss A, she finished the gap-year program from Boyce College this spring, still picks up grocery orders at the local Kroger, continues to educate herself through reading/audiobooks, and is collaborating on a video game. 🙂
Our kids are growing up on us!
They sure are!
