31 Days of Tackling the To-Do List: Homeschool Room, Part 3

My dad made this sturdy storage bench for us. I think my parents brought it when they came to visit just after Mr. D was born. It has stored toys, soccer balls and various other things, but hasn’t really been utilized well – unless you count little boys using it as a place to drive toy cars. ๐Ÿ˜‰ While brainstorming (and searching Pinterest) for ideas on how to store art and craft supplies, I wondered if I could store many of our materials here.

We had stuff upstairs, on the shelf in the former family room and in the basement, so the first step was to gather it in one place. Then I sorted things by type, putting things like beads and popsicle sticks in small zip-top bags or other small containers. Then it all was arranged in larger containers inside the bench.

A container of origami supplies sits on top of the white basket on the right which holds glue, markers, watercolors and other art materials. The box in the middle has various kinds of paper. Then there are containers with more markers, scissors, crayons, stickers, etc.

More containers with craft materials underneath,ย and old shirts for messy projects in the corner. As a bonus, the bench is the perfect height to be used as seating along one side of the homeschool table! ๐Ÿ™‚
