Meet the Students 2018 Edition

No energy to blog last week – planning and starting back to the homeschool routine is exhausting. But these kids are worth it! Here’s a bit about each of them. 🙂

Miss A

Age & Grade:  16, 11th

Favorite book/learning experience last year: our mother-daughter trip to England

Looking forward to: she really enjoys the anatomy course she’s taking – drawing is right up her alley!

Dreading: the PSAT in a few weeks! She’s diligently preparing, though.

Strengths: a hard worker and budding baker, writer, and artist

Future plans: finish high school!

Mr. D

Age/Grade: 13 (14 next month), 8th

Favorite book/learning experience last year: Watership Down, our tour of the castle near Cincinnati

Looking forward to: reading A Briefer History of Time later this year

Dreading: math getting harder

Strengths: remembering facts (really anything he puts his mind to), a knack for “voices” (you should hear his C-3PO imitation), making things like stop-motion videos and Batman costumes

Future plans: build a car

Mr. E

Age/Grade: 11, 6th

Favorite book/learning experience last year: Oliver Twist, the LEGO Robotics competition

Looking forward to: reading the Iliad and discussing it with Dad 🙂

Dreading: Latin getting harder (but he’s doing well with Getting Starting with Latin!)

Strengths: getting his independent work done, helping out, giving hugs

Future plans: wants to work at the Jungle Gym when he’s older

Mr. L

Age/Grade: 7, 2nd

Favorite book/learning experience last year: Pinocchio, the Cincinnati Art Museum and castle trip

Looking forward to: reading Robin Hood (he really wants to watch the old Errol Flynn movie afterward 😉 )

Dreading: couldn’t thing of anything – guess that’s good!

Strengths: he’s a natural at narrating! He’s got a head for numbers, too, and his reading skills are starting to come together.

Future plans: wants to be a doctor

Little R

Age/Grade: 5, kindergarten

Favorite book/learning experience last year: his dinosaur book, the Cincinnati trip

Looking forward to: lots of LEGO creations and drawings of monsters

Dreading: picking up those LEGO pieces off his bedroom floor 😉

Strengths: amazingly creative and keeps us smiling

Future plans: wants to be a scientist who learns about dinosaurs (of course!)
