Seven Quick Takes: Busy Saturday Edition

{1}
While hubby took the kids to a park, I combed through the relevant sections of Once Upon a Child and scored quite a few summer clothes. It’s getting harder to find nice shirts for Mr. D (who’s between sizes 12 and 14), but I found a Mario tee and a Minecraft tee that he’ll like, and several other things including a pair of sandals for $4. A couple of the shirts I got for L were brand new with the original tags!

After a yummy lunch at Chick-fil-A, Miss A and Mr. D and I went to the Half Price Bookstore while the others went to Walmart. My favorite section is the Collectibles, and my first two finds were these lovely old books:

I also scored two more books for AO Year 8. 🙂

We found this fun addition while waiting to pay for our books!
It has our next play in it, and apparently there’s another one with some of Shakespeare’s tragedies.

But the best find was this set of Sir Winston Churchill’s A History of the English Speaking Peoples, very nice condition, for $20!
They are used in Ambleside Online Years 7-10. We have a paperback of The Birth of Britain, and I had been wishing for hardcovers, but good sets are pricey online. So thankful and happy! 🙂

It was a lovely day, so hubby and the kids spent a lot of time outside doing some “spring cleaning”. Miss A prepared the gardens for planting, which will hopefully start in a couple of weeks with lettuce, basil and parsley. Our chives are already up!
Mr. D cleaned the van, and Mr. E did some yard work, both with assistance from Daddy.
They have everyday chores they are expected to do as part of the family, but they earned a bit for their help today. We are thankful for it!

The little guys entertained themselves in the newly-cleaned and stocked sandbox or with bubbles, and got quite dirty.
I often wish little R wasn’t so fond of his binky, but in this case I was fine with it as there was less chance of other things going in. 😉 All in all it was a good Saturday!
