The Simple Woman’s Daybook for December 3, 2018

For Today

Looking out my window…another dreary, wet day.
I am thinking…I need to finish the Christmas shopping…
I am thankful…for good friends who came for our Charlotte Mason study group tonight.
One of my favorite things…our Advent tradition ♥

I am creating…lists and plans
I am wearing…navy print tee & pants
I am listening to…my Christmas playlist. 🙂 James Galway, Pentatonix, and more! Manheim Steamroller’s version of Veni Veni is pretty amazing.

I am hoping…to finish Ourselves this week!
I am learning…about events I recall hearing about (but not always understanding) on the news when I was a child – I’m reading The Story of the World, Volume 4 along with Mr. E. So many wars and disasters! 🙁
In my kitchen…a new oven/stove is in order – one of the elements (it’s a smooth top) is kaput.
In the school room…Holly Jolly Mad Libs and stories during Morning Time – we read Christmas Day in the Morning today.
In my garden…not much – we do need to rake more leaves if we can get a dry, snow-free day…
Post Script
Speaking of events from my childhood, today’s look back at the life of former President George H. W. Bush on CNN 10 was inspiring – Mr. E even asked to watch it again.

As for Coligny, his cause failed; but courage and devotion never fail. The men who do battle for the sake of truth and right may be defeated, but their memory becomes a priceless possession. The example of a man who gives up ease, and wealth, and the pleasures of comfortable success, and life itself for a good cause, is an inspiring influence to all time. Coligny’s name is a great victory. Men have ever since been braver and better because of him.
A moment from my day…O Christmas tree…
Closing Notes
May you have a blessed Advent and Christmas season!
