The Simple Woman’s Daybook for February 10, 2020

For Today

Looking out my window…dark and wet.
I am thinking…about Wisdom, my word of the year for 2020. It seems to be popping up all over…
I am thankful…that Mr. D recently made a profession of faith in Christ and became a communicant member of our church. Thirteen years ago, when my husband and I took our vows of membership, a two-year-old Mr. D was not happy about being up at the front with us and put up fuss. It felt very humiliating. Last Sunday, he stood quietly up front and seriously answered the questions put to him. It was humbling to see how God has worked in his life. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
One of my favorite things…getting a blog post up. It’s been a while.
I am creating…hmmm…I should knit another dishcloth or start that bookmark embroidery kit my cousin gave me…
I am wearing…light purple tee and sweater, khaki pants.
I am reading…Anna Karenina – trying again! Making it my bedside book because the chapters are short.
I am hoping…to fold a lot of laundry later, and finish an audiobook.
I am learning…about elementary arithmetic and hoping it will help me better help my kids.
In my kitchen…breakfast for supper: sausages (eggs for Miss A, who had to leave for robotics) and Dutch puff.
In the school room…we finished reading/listening to The Tempest last week, and we’re spending a few Morning Times this week watching the Royal Shakespeare Company production – it’s good!
Post Script
The first episode of the new Café Scholé podcast with Dr. Christopher Perrin was a good weekend listen.
Shared Quote
“…there are really remarkable things going on all round us if we will only see them; and we do our perceptions no credit in regarding as remarkable only those affairs which are surrounded with an accumulation of sensational detail.” E. C. Bentley, Trent’s Last Case
A moment from my day…we did have snow for a few days – enough for hubby to take some of the boys sledding yesterday – and it was quite pretty.
Closing Notes
If you need a good laugh at the end of a bleak February day, try an episode of Yes, Minister. Nothing like a good dose of British humor (or should that be humour? 😉 ).
