The Simple Woman’s Daybook for October 1, 2018

For Today

Looking out my window…actually wrote some of this outside, thanks to my new laptop – it was a lovely day!

I am thinking…about menu plans, getting back to our normal routine, etc.

I am thankful…hubby and the older three boys had a good camping trip in West Virginia, despite some rain and small mishaps. Also thankful to be almost done washing the very smelly mountain of laundry they brought back. πŸ˜›

One of my favorite things…these leaves and that skyΒ β™₯

I am creating… πŸ™

I am wearing…navy print tee and jeans

I listened to AND watched…Sense and Sensibility over the past couple of weeks. πŸ™‚

I am hoping…the two that came home with colds are better soon, and the rest of us stay healthy.

I am learning…about classical astronomy, the liberal arts, modern history, reading better

In my kitchen…Miss A and I enjoyed our Hello Fresh box last week, and she got lots of cooking practice. The macaroni and cheese with cauliflower and pancetta was especially good.

And yes, we did feed Mr. R too, but chicken nuggets and bread and butter are more to his taste. πŸ˜‰

In the school room…slowly easing back into things this week – we’re spreading Week 3 of the term over two weeks.

In my garden…wondering if the peppers will ever turn color?? I do not have a green thumb…

Post Script

I’m not a songwriter or author, and I haven’t deleted anything yet, but Andrew Peterson echos some of the thoughts and struggles I’ve had: Wrestling the Giant: Why I Deleted InstagramΒ (found thanks to Karen’s post – I find some great articles through her weekend links posts πŸ™‚ ).

A moment from my day…I didn’t spot a whole lot of interest to me at the library book sale on Saturday, but I think I got a few good ones.

Closing Notes

Hope your October is lovely! πŸ™‚
