During the month of October, I’m posting brief reviews of some of my favorite books from the past couple of years: those that really touched my heart, gave me a new perspective, taught me something, or were just plain fun. Hopefully you will be inspired to add something to your to-read list. 🙂
Every so often I like a cozy mystery story – nothing too dark or graphic. 🙂 Last year I listened to A Morbid Taste for Bones, the first of the series by Ellis Peters featuring Brother Cadfael, a monk-turned-detective who lives in 12th century England. I enjoyed it and decided to try the second one, One Corpse Too Many, earlier this year. I loved it! There is not one, but two very sweet love stories, a character who keeps you guessing as to his guilt or innocence, and a breathtaking duel at the end. If you like audiobooks, Patrick Tull’s narration is perfect for the character of Brother Cadfael. And so far this is a series I can let my 12-year-old read or listen to!
I keep meaning to try these. Thanks for the encouragement!
