The Simple Woman’s Daybook for May 8, 2017

For Today
Looking out my window…it was so good to see blue sky after feeling like we were drowning last week!
I am thinking…about how to get that youngest of mine to use the potty, sigh…
I am thankful…for my friend Dawn’s willingness to take my older three and her kids to and from testing this week, as well as proctor it.
One of my favorite things…ordering books for the coming school year – a lovely edition of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee is on its way!
I am creating…10th grade plans :0
I am wearing…floral tee, gray skirt, and sweater because it’s chilly!
I listened to…Rosamund Pike’s delightful narration of Pride and Prejudice, which streams free with WiFi through the Channels section of the Audible app. Of course, now I want to watch the movie again, but I’ll have to wait until Miss A finishes it!
I am hoping…to read another couple of chapters of Charlotte Mason’s Parents and Children this week – I’m interested it what she will say about “the culture of character” and Discipline is a Life. I’ll be continuing to post some favorite quotes here on the blog. 🙂
I am learning…about the American and French Revolutions.
In my kitchen…sausage pasta and peas tonight.
In the school room…testing week with friends at church – and piano and reading.
In my garden…pansies in the planter 🙂

I shared some ideas from the Cincinnati GHC here. Two of my friends also shared some of what inspired them:

  1. I’m so happy to have visited your blog and learned that you, too, homeschool and have a child in high school. My daughters will be in 9th and 11th grades next fall. Charlotte Mason’s philosophy of education and character development is something that we follow as well. Hope you have a great Mother’s Day!

  2. I wish I had found out about Charlotte Mason in the beginning, or even the middle, of our homeschooling journey. Alas, our son is starting his last year, and our daughter graduated 3 years ago. I’m keeping all I’ve found for grandchildren though! 🙂 I look forward to reading your next Daybook!
