The Simple Woman’s Daybook for July 1, 2019

For Today

Looking out my window…well, I’m currently sitting out on the deck – too lovely to be inside! ♥
I am thinking…it’s nice to be back. 🙂
I am thankful…it’s summer.
One of my favorite things…milkweed flowers.
I am creating…plans for the next school year, of course. 😉
I am wearing…purple tee and denim Capri pants
I am listening to…more Mary Stewart: Nine Coaches Waiting. Audible has been making unabridged audiobooks of her books available!
I am hoping…to finish it this week. 🙂
I am learning…about the Romans along with Mr. E.
In my kitchen…strawberries and whipped cream for dessert tonight!
In the school room…the boys should be done the school year by mid-July, but Miss A is currently doing two college-level art and design courses in five weeks (!), so she will have to finish her reading up in August.
In my garden…we’ve had the best crop of lettuce ever this year, probably due to the cool, wet spring, but it’s starting to wilt now that it’s been getting hotter. 🙁
Post Script
I recently finished reading my favorite homeschool planning resource for the third time, this time the updated paperback edition: Plan Your Year: Homeschool Planning for Purpose and Peace by Pam Barnhill. Highly recommended!
Shared Quote
“And though all the winds of doctrine were let loose to play upon the earth, so Truth be in the field, we do injuriously, by licensing and prohibiting, to misdoubt her strength. Let her and Falsehood grapple; who ever knew Truth put to the worse, in a free and open encounter? Her confuting is the best and surest suppressing.”
John Milton, Areopagitica
A moment from my day…deer sighting yesterday…
Closing Notes
Happy Canada Day to my Canadian friends and family!
