The Simple Woman’s Daybook for Tuesday, July 12, 2022

For Today
Looking out my window…actually, sitting on the patio – it’s a lovely, puffy-cloud summer day.
I am thinking…I don’t usually write daybook posts on Tuesday, but I didn’t get around to it yesterday.
I am thankful…this is our last week of school before an eight-week summer break.
One of my favorite things…sunset walks.
I am creating…plans for the next school year with a 12th, 10th, 6th, and 4th grader.
I am wearing…a favorite comfy tee and capri pants.
I am watching…War and Peace (from the ’70s) with Miss A and her fiancé. Maybe I’ll get back to the book after we’re done and actually have an idea of what’s happening. 😉
I am hoping…my sister will have a safe journey and good visit with us next week.
I am learning…about early church history from Eusebius. I’m not sure why it didn’t occur to me before to read this for my Church category this year (for the Scholé Sisters reading challenge), since I’ve had it sitting on the shelf for years. I’m seriously considering assigning it to my 12th grader this coming year, as well. (And I just noticed the audiobook is included in an Audible membership! Although I’m liking the photos and maps in my hardback.)
In my kitchen…Pizza Hut tonight.
In the school room…exam week! And finishing up books – and math and science for the older two.
In my garden…my pollinator patch is looking pretty.
Post Script
My daughter and her fiancé are opening a used bookstore. They’ve been very blessed with books, but have had trouble getting funding for other things, like bookshelves. If you are interested in helping them out, here is their fundraising page.

“I am a mother at heart. I build a home, which seems like a place to stay, but really, it is a place to leave. That is the way of it. Children are meant to grow up. I understand that now. Maybe you have yet to come face-to-face with what that means. I hope you will take courage and allow your children to walk away with grace.” Cindy Rollins, Mere Motherhood
A moment from my day…helping Miss A prime and paint the store last week – hard work but fun. 🙂
