Miss A and I are reading Alessandro Manzoni’s novel The Betrothed (although I’m a bit behind), and I wanted to share this comforting quote. In the context, the heroine, Lucia, has been forced to flee her home, and she is reflecting on her dashed hopes and uncertain future. Her conclusion is to remember the omnipresence and love of God:
Also read this week:
- Hubby: still reading The Glory of Heaven by John MacArthur
- Me: Teaching from Rest by Sarah Mackenzie – second time and second edition 🙂
- Miss A: Life Under Compulsion by Anthony Esolen – guess she wanted to know what I was raving about! 😀
- Mr. D: almost done Oliver Twist – poor guy listened to the awful chapter today and was pretty upset. 🙁 I am thankful for his tender heart, though.
- Mr. E: The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner
- Little L: Tasha Tudor’s Bedtime Book – he loves this!
- Little R: Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson

What a comforting thought to remember. Thanks for sharing! Now I’m going to check out Living Under Compulsion. 🙂
Anna has so many pages of quotes from Life Under Compulsion and keeps reading them at our CM Group meetings. I’ve got to get some other books read so I can borrow her copy! She liked it better than 10 Ways to Destroy Imagination …
Anna, I love the quote, and the way picture you have used with it. thank you , so much, for sharing.
I love the quote, Anna, and the reminder that eternity is God’s future for his children <3
